On 13 May 2026 MDI Energia and GAZ-SYSTEM signed a letter of intent on delivering biomethane to the transmission network by road, in the form of compressed gas (CNG). The operator would build gas fuel transshipment points (IPPG) through which biomethane would enter the National Transmission System.
At the locations indicated by MDI Energia, 19 projects were registered with a combined potential of 72 million m³ of biomethane per year. According to a GAZ-SYSTEM study from October 2025, Poland's biomethane consumption potential reaches 7 billion m³ annually, while domestic production could currently cover about 0.5 billion m³.
